Dr. Sandra W. Holt retired January 2013 as Associate Professor of Communications, Director of the University Honors Program, and the Women’sCenter at Tennessee State University. She served the TSU faculty and administration for more than forty years and earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the University. She received her Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Interpersonal/Intercultural Communication from Florida State University.
As chapter president of the TSU chapter of Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society, Dr. Holt was awarded a $10,000 Promotion of Excellence Grant in 2002 to host a Minority Leadership Conference that was attended by nearly 600 participants from Historically Black Colleges and Universities. She later served as the first African-American on the National Board of Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society.Dr. Holtserved on the national board of the Emerging Leaders Workshop and The Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Youth, Inc. at Bethlehem Community Center in Nashville.
She is a member of Born AgainChurch where she is an ordained minister, teacher, writer, and workshop coordinator for the Fashioned in His Image Women’s Ministry. Dr. Holt also serves as Dean of Teachers Institute at BAC which is organized to train teachers to teach all age groups in the Word of God effectively. In 2003, Dr. Holt co-authored a book entitled Seduction of the Senses.
Sandra was married to Elijah Holt for 30 years. Now divorced they share four children, six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren who keep them very busy.
Dr. Holt believes she was born to help mold and direct people towards their goals in life and to then release them to their God-given destiny.
